How do I know which service level I need?
Tell dispatch how the rider gets around day to day. We'll match the right vehicle and crew.
Can I bring my own wheelchair, walker or cane?
Yes. Wheelchair riders stay in their own chair, and we stow walkers and canes in the vehicle for the ride. On stretcher rides, a wheelchair or walker for the destination, bags and other personal effects come along too.
Will the crew lift someone into a wheelchair or into the van?
No. On wheelchair rides the rider needs to already be in their wheelchair: at a hospital or nursing home the staff help them into it, and at home a family member or caregiver does. Our crew wheels them door through door and secures the chair in the van. If the rider can't sit up or needs to be moved from a bed, ask dispatch about a stretcher ride, where the crew handles every transfer.
Will the driver help me to the door?
Wheelchair and stretcher rides are door through door: the crew brings the rider inside to where they're going, at pickup and drop-off. Ambulatory rides are curb to curb: the driver knocks on your door, then helps you in and out of the vehicle, with a step stool when needed.
Do you provide medical care during the ride?
No. We provide transportation, not medical care. If the rider needs monitoring on the way, call dispatch first so we can talk through options.
Can the driver help me up or down a couple of steps?
No. Our crews never carry or help riders, or wheelchairs, up or down steps by hand, not even one or two. Any steps the rider can't manage on their own are done with a stair chair and two trained operators. That adds to the cost of the trip, so tell dispatch about every step when you book.
Do you only drive to medical appointments?
No. Self-pay riders also book us for weddings, funerals, parties, family gatherings and other events. Dispatch quotes these the same way.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you can, especially for standing rides. We'll fit in same-day rides when a vehicle is free.
